READABLE UPDATE
Today’s 38-page order delivers another hammer blow to the defense in State of Idaho v. Bryan Kohberger, the capital case over the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students. Judge Steven Hippler ruled:
- Death-Penalty Motion—DENIED: Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 1) is not a categorical bar to capital punishment.
- Firing-Squad Challenge—DENIED: Idaho’s backup execution method remains on the table if lethal-injection drugs run out.
- ASD Evidence Gag: The defense can’t mention autism in opening statements unless Kohberger testifies.
- DNA & Forensic Wins for State: ISP lab manager may detail the knife-sheath DNA; knife purchase & Amazon receipt stay in.
- Key Eyewitness Allowed: Surviving roommate’s “bushy-eyebrow intruder” ID comes in despite bias claims.
