Officers responded to a reported break-in involving a woman’s ex-boyfriend who was believed to be armed. While attempting to detain the suspect in a narrow side yard, gunfire erupted at close range. Two officers were shot almost immediately.
The suspect fled, leading to a second encounter several blocks away — where a third officer was shot before police returned fire and ended the threat.
