The right wood can be expensive. Mahogany, for instance, can bring in 30,000 euros, but the tree must be felled legally and certified. Axel Groh trades in various kinds of wood. He has to comply with the EU's stringent timber trade regulations.

No trading can take place without proper certification of origin. His customers come from the furniture and automotive industries, and he's also supplied wood veneer to Dubai International Airport. Dagmar Zindel reports on a man who cares about wood.
