Both VW and BMW are focusing on electric and self-driving cars. But the fat years with double-digit growth rates for the car industry in China are over for the time being. Sales fell for the first time in 2018, and last March sales plummeted. Mass manufacturers such as Volkswagen, the market leader, have been hardest hit.
