- The number of people who've died of Covid-19 has surpassed 350-thousand, according to Johns Hopkins University in the United States. The US accounts for about a third of the deaths.
- Thailand has extended its state of emergency laws for another month until the end of June. The government says the laws are still needed as the country gradually eases restrictions.
-India's top biomedical research body has backed the use of the anti-malaria drug hydroxy-chloroquine as a treatment for coronavirus. This comes after the WHO suspended its trial of the drug citing safety concerns.
- Spain is holding a minute of silence to pay tribute to the more than 27-thousand people who have died from COVID-19. The government has declared a 10-day period of national mourning. Flags in public buildings across the country will fly at half-mast. King Felipe the 6th will preside over a ceremony to honor the dead once the country emerges from its strict lockdown rules. The state-mourning comes after opposition parties criticized the left-wing coalition of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez for not paying homage to the victims of the Corona-virus.
