n Europe, several countries are scrambling to contain the spread of new coronavirus infections. On Thursday, France has hit a new record of16,000 confirmed cases in 24 hours. The French health minsitry also said the number of patients in intensive care has jumped to the highest level since June. This week the French government has announced tougher restrictions in some of its largest cities, including the early or total closure of bars and restaurants, sparking outcry among workers.
