1:49Now PlayingFire fighters are battling more than a hundred wildfires burning across Russia's Siberia. The fires are more intense this year, due to high temperatures and a prolonged drought. It’s feared the fires could significantly damage the region's ecosystem.
In just a couple of months, fires there have released record amounts of greenhouse gases, nearly equivalent to the 2017 fossil fuel emissions of Venezuela. As firefighters battle the blazes, nearby residents have been told to stay inside and keep their windows closed to avoid breathing in thick smoke
