One of the worst hit counties is Marsabit in Northern Kenya where it hasn’t rained for a full year now. Millions of livestock died, wells dried up, people’s livelihoods vanish in front of their eyes. President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared the situation a national disaster. The United Nations World Food Program says 2.4 million people struggle to find enough food by next month. Especially vulnerable are children. Climate scientists say global warming is behind this looming humanitarian crisis. DW Correspondent Mariel Müller reports.
