13:22Now PlayingAfter days of violent protests, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has vowed to destroy "armed bandits." He gave "special thanks" to Russian President Vladimir Putin for sending troops to quell the unrest.
Putin discussed the situation with Tokayev in several phone calls during the crisis, the Kremlin said on Friday. Tokayev had earlier confirmed that a peacekeeping force from the Russia-dominated Collective Security Treaty Organization had arrived in Kazakhstan.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday called for an end to the violence in Kazakhstan.
