A week has passed since a journalist and his researcher went missing in Brazil. Yesterday, investigators raised the prospect that human remains found near a river might hold a clue to the men's whereabouts. But today, Reuters News Agency is reporting that federal police are skeptical of that.

British journalist Dom Philips and his associate Bruno Pereira, who previously led the government's Indigenous agency, have been reporting on issues in the Amazon including deforestation and the encroachment of business interests onto indigenous lands.
