Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a "historic week" has begun, as Kyiv awaits a decision from Brussels as to whether the country will be conferred EU candidate status. Zelenskyy said that he expects "greater hostile activity from Russia."

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that the European Union needs to show Ukraine that the besieged country belongs in the bloc. "It is important now not to go by the book, but to take advantage of this historic moment and make it clear to Ukraine with a view to its prospects: You belong in the center of the European Union," she said.

In an Interview with DW, Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, was confident that Ukraine will win this war. "Now everyone knows that Ukraine is capable, that Ukraine knows how to fight." He added that it is "high time" to send more heavy weapons to Ukraine.
