YouTube Description
as posted by the channelChina has been holding military exercises in the sea and airspace around Taiwan, saying they're in response to "collusions and provocations" by Taiwan and the US.
This statement came just ahead of a visit from US Senator Rick Scott to Taipei for talks with president Tsai Ing-wen. China claims Taiwan as its own territory.
Taiwan meanwhile has been bolstering its own defense capabilities in light of the ongoing Chinese threat. Its armed forces are mostly equipped by the US, but President Tsai Ing-wen has made developing an advanced, homegrown arms industry a priority. The self-governing island has just unveiled the newest addition to that effort. DW's Joyce Lee reports from Taiwan.
