8:08Now PlayingFrench President Emmanuel Macron is hosting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for a joint ministerial summit today.
The two leaders and their respective cabinets are expected to hold talks on energy, economic policy and defense, subjects they haven't seen eye to eye on recently, particularly in regards to Russia's war in Ukraine. 300 lawmakers from both countries are also coming together to mark 60 years since the landmark Elysee treaty, an agreement which brought postwar France and Germany closer together and laid the foundations for today's European Union.
