Its the latest in a series of demonstrations that have taken place in recent weeks against the pro-Western president Maia Sandu and the Moldovan government, who have accused Russia of plotting against them. Pro-Russian forces have been resurgent in Moldova since Russia attacked neighboring Ukraine more than a year ago. Thousands of Russian troops are stationed in the separatist Moldovan region of Transnistria in the east of the country.
