For a short Moment, it looked like Vladimir Putin and his Russian empire were beginning to falter. Triggered, not by the current Ukrainian counteroffensive, but by its own mercenaries, the Wagner Group, who usually destabilize regimes in faraway countries. The Ukrainian army is currently trying to harness the momentum generated by this instability for its counteroffensive. But it is a complex operation on several fronts. At the same time, there is growing concern that Putin and the Russian army could escalate further while backed into a corner. And there´s the unresolved matter of what is to be done with the estimated remaining 25,000 Wagner mercenaries from the uprising.
