The vague deadline - announced at a meeting of the UN's International Maritime Organization in London - apparently aims to take into account differences in national circumstances. The shipping industry currently accounts for around 3 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions - putting companies under increasing pressure to switch to greener fuels.
