Now the company is saying goodbye to the bird and the name Twitter, rebranding to be known simply as X. It's the latest shake-up under billionaire Elon Musk, who paid 44 billion dollars for the social media giant last October.
Twitter's new identity has - unsurprisingly - been trending on the platform since it was unveiled on Sunday. The company says it's part of a strategy to transform into an everything app - which combines video chats, messaging, streaming and payments.
