4:30Now PlayingThe city of Venice with its picturesque canals has long drawn visitors from around the world. But the city's charm has a downside, too: Venice is suffering from too much tourism.
This week it became the first city in the world to charge tourists a fee to enter. Anyone visiting the city for a day trip must pay five euros during a trial which runs through most of July. It's hoped the fee will help protect the UNESCO World Heritage Site from overtourism.
For more on this, we talk to Jane da Mosto. She's the Co-Founder and Executive Director of "We are here Venice" – a local organization 'dedicated to the conservation of Venice as a living city’.
