For most Hungarians, Peter Magyar was an unknown figure in Hungary until a few months ago, when he burst into the public eye. In February, a paedophile pardon scandal rocked Hungarian politics, leading to the resignation of Hungary’s former President, Katalin Novàk and of Magyar’s ex-wife, former Justice Minister Judit Varga. Magyar, who was on the government payroll and part of the inner circle of the ruling party Fidesz, is now running against the government for European elections, and he is drawing massive crowds. DW's Senior International Correspondent Fanny Facsar reports from his latest protest in Debrecen, a Fidesz stronghold.
