His own decision not to seek re-election upended that race... making Harris the candidate in his place. Polls show her edging slightly ahead of Republican Donald Trump in some crucial swing states.
DW's Washington bureau chief Ines Pohl was at the convention in Chicago to keep us updated on the highlights, and we spoke to DW’s Stefan Simons monitoring pro-Palestinian demonstrations outside the DNC venue.
