24:00Now PlayingThe far-right Alternative for Germany party has won Sunday's election in the eastern state of Thuringia, a region where it's considered by German intelligence to be an extremist organization that threatens democracy. At a national level, it's also being investigated for possible extremism. The party, known as AfD, won just under a third of the votes in the state. It vocally opposes military support to Ukraine and wants to prohibit most immigration.
