5:29Now PlayingAuthorities in Gaza have said that an Israeli airstrike on a tent encampment has killed at least 19 people in the Khan Younis area – lowering an earlier toll. Israel says it carried out an airstrike on what it called 'significant Hamas terrorists'.
First responders say they recovered dozens of bodies from a crowded camp in a place Israel designated a humanitarian zone, to house displaced Palestinians. According to Gaza's civil defense, the overnight strike set fire to tents and killed entire families. Israel said it took steps to mitigate civilian casualties and used precise munitions and aerial surveillance, to strike a command group of Hamas – classified as a terrorist organization by the EU, US and others.
For more on this, we talk to Shaina Low from the Norwegian Refugee Council.
