Harris says the former president’s comments were “designed to divide us as a country.” Local officials have repeatedly said there was no evidence for Trump’s claims.
But the small city of Springfield has still found itself at the centre of a firestorm, with dozens of bomb threats reported following Trump's comments. DW’s Aya Ibrahim went there to find out more.
