as posted by the channelMoldova's 'Yes' campaign has won a narrow victory in a referendum on joining the European Union despite allegations that Russia meddled in the process in the hope of securing a 'No' vote.
Moldova backed an amendment to the constitution, with just over 50 per cent of voters favoring EU accession. The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the result shows Moldova wants a strong and independent future in the face of Russia's “hybrid tactics.” Moscow has denied the allegations. It controls the breakaway Transnistria region, which is a small strip of land in Moldova along the border with Ukraine.
Moldova's pro-EU president Maia Sandu faces a run-off to keep her job.
