8:38Now PlayingHong Kong's high court has sentenced 45 pro-democracy leaders to jail terms ranging from four to 10 years – in a case condmned by western nations and rights groups.
They were charged with subversion for their roles in unofficial local elections in 2020, held under Beijing's national security law. It was introduced in 2019 after pro-democracy protest erupted in Hong Kong. The law crushed the movement and reduced the city's autonomy.
