0:56Germany's former finance minister Christian Lindner has been hit in the face with a foam pie while campaigning in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The incident happened during an campaign appearance for Lindner's Free Democrats Party (FDP).
The Left Party, whose activist carried out the stunt, said it did not endorse cake-throwing when confronting political opponents, the German Press Agency reported.
The FDP currently look likely to fall out of the German parliament entirely after February's elections, as they are polling below the five percent hurdle necessary to win seats.
