The Red Cross is facilitating the exchange. Buses carrying some of the freed Palestinians arrived in the occupied West Bank, while others who had been serving life sentences were transferred to Egypt. Prisoner advocacy groups say Palestinian prisoners are abused in Israeli detention. Israeli authorities have rejected allegations of systematic abuse at its prisons. DW's Emily Gordine spoke to a Palestinian student Amal Shujayyeh who was released in the first swap.
