15:23Now PlayingA man whose name didn't appear on the ballot paper has helped swing the country's election, and fuelled an extraordinary political comeback.
Despite trailing by 20 percentage points in the polls in January, the Liberal party has retained power. Led by banker turned politician Mark Carney, who has been filmed dancing in delight. But they did it by harnessing a backlash against the US president Donald Trump, whose tariffs and threats to make Canada America's 51st state galvanized public opinion at the ballot box.
Celebrating the party's win, Carney admitted that the coming months would be challenging, but focused his victory speech on Donald Trump.
