YouTube Description
as posted by the channelUkrainian and US officials have signed an agreement providing Washington with access to Ukrainian mineral deposits. The US is calling it a new form of US commitment to Ukrainian sovereignty.
The Trump administration had long pushed for the deal, under terms that were seen as extortionate in Kyiv. Now, the US will gain access to Ukraine's untapped reserves of rare earths, titanium and other materials vital to manufacturing, especially in the tech sector. The agreement also says Ukraine will not have to compensate the US for military aid.
DW Correspondent Janelle Dumalaon reports on the contents of the deal and why it is being signed now.
