The strike came just hours after the first direct peace talks between Ukraine and Russia since 2022 ended with no breakthrough. Negotiators agreed on a prisoner swap - but failed to produce a ceasefire or a meeting between their two leaders. Ukraine says Russia demanded control of more territory as a pre-condition for a truce.
