6:07Now PlayingDozens of people have been killed and more than 100 wounded in an apparent attack near an aid distribution point in Gaza. Gaza's health authorities as well as witnesses said Israeli troops fired into the crowd, killing and wounding people trying to get aid. The aid site is jointly run by Israel and the US private aid group the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. On Sunday evening, the Israeli army denied firing any shots at Palestinians near the aid site and stated its preliminary findings determined reports of gunfire fatalities to be false. Hamas has urged the UN to initiate an investigation into the incident. The UN previously decried Israel's aid mechanism as inadequate, with UNOCHA spokesperson Jonathan Whittall saying Israel’s "newly developed distribution scheme is more than just the control of aid: it is engineered scarcity."
