8:01Now PlayingThe German city of Cologne, typically known for its carnival celebrations, was the site of a large-scale bomb disposal operation today. Authorities evacuated the affected area starting in the morning, with delays caused by a resident refusing to leave. Only in the early evening could specialists begin work on defusing three World War II-era American bombs. The operation was completed successfully within an hour. While such discoveries are not uncommon in Germany, the scale of this evacuation was notably larger than usual.
