YouTube Description
as posted by the channelOn Thursday, EU leaders met for US trade deal talks in Brussels. They’ve been discussing how to persuade US President Donald Trump from slapping steep tariffs on European goods. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said all options for trade with the US were on the table. But German Chancellor Friedrich Merz insisted the EU should aim for a "quick and simple" deal rather than a "slow and complicated" one. The bloc is facing a July 9th deadline to make an agreement, or see its goods face 50% levies. In addition, EU chief von der Leyen proposed an alternative to the World Trade Organization, citing the hurdles to its trade-dispute mechanism which have prevented the EU from resolving its complaints with the US. Merz suppored the proposal to create an alternative to the WTO.
