14:03Now PlayingDirect diplomacy between the United States and Russia. Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke for almost an hour on the phone today – with no obvious breakthrough in ending the war in Ukraine.

Today's phone call followed Washington's announcement that it's withholding some weapons deliveries to Ukraine to"put America's interests first".
