Russia has unleashed a massive all-night attack on Ukraine using more than 550 drones and missiles to hit Kyiv and other cities across the country. Residents were forced to take shelter for seven hours as air defenses failed to intercept the ballistic missiles that hit both railway infrastructure and residential buildings. Ukraine says it was the single biggest air attack of the war so far.

Meanwhile, German and Dutch intelligence officials say Russia is increasingly using banned chemical weapons in Ukraine. Germany's foreign intelligence service, the BND, found evidence of the use of Chloropicrin – which causes severe irritation to the skin and eyes and can even result in death when exposed to high concentrations of it. The agent is banned by the Chemical Weapons Convention.
