European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen has insisted the EU still wants to reach an accord before the August 1 deadline. On Sunday, the EU delayed retaliation over separate US tariffs on steel and aluminium as a sign of goodwill. If negotiations fail however, the EU has prepared a list of counter-tariffs worth €21 billion on US goods.
