The Israeli military has declared Gaza City a "combat zone." It says it will no longer maintain pauses in fighting to facilitate aid deliveries to Gaza City’s population. Aid organizations and civilians sheltering in Gaza City have stated that Israel’s military strikes never stopped during said pauses. A million Palestinians are sheltering in Gaza City and have been displaced multiple times.
Military analysts warn that while Israel’s expanded operations target Hamas militants, they also endanger the remaining Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip.
