YouTube Description
as posted by the channelLast week, Nigerian chef Hilda Baci broke the world record for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice ever recorded, weighing in at 8,780 kilograms, which went to feed the thousands of onlookers at the World Jollof Festival in Lagos.
The spicy rice-based dish is one of the jewels of West African cuisine and a point of national pride for at least two countries: Nigeria and Ghana. Debates about which country prepares it better have raged for years.
But in an interview with DW, Chef Hilda said she likes both – and serves the Ghanaian version, with its notes of ginger, alongside the Nigerian variety in her restaurants.
Baci is the former holder of another world record – for the longest cooking marathon, lasting 93 hours and 11 minutes, a feat she accomplished in 2023.
