8:50Now PlayingA broad majority of European Union countries have approved the signing of a deal with the South American trading bloc, Mercosur. It would be the EU's biggest free-trade agreement to date. The pact with the four founding Mercosur members -- Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay -- was supposed to have been signed in December. Italy originally blocked it, but finally backed the deal. Opposition led by France and Poland, whose farmers marched again on Friday, was not enough to sink the pact. Ireland, Hungary and Austria also opposed it. The signing ceremony is planned for January 17th.
