A man has died after being shot by federal agents in Minneapolis. The Department of Homeland Security says the man approached the officers carrying a firearm -- and resisted being disarmed.

The incident comes less than three weeks after the fatal shooting of Renee Good, which sparked protests across the city. Thousands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- or ICE -- agents have been deployed to the city as President Donald Trump intensifies his nationwide campaign to deport immigrants.

Minneapolis authorities later held a press conference in which mayor Jacob Frey said he had requested assistance from the national guard to help support the city police force as it tries to keep the peace.
