France is looking to follow Australia's lead with a ban social media for teenagers. French lawmakers are set to vote on the draft legislation on Monday. The bill would block access to networks such as Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok for teens under the age of 15. The move is part of a growing international trend to try to protect children from excessive screen time – as evidence mounts of the damage it can cause to mental health. French president Emmanuel Macron says he wants the ban in place by the start of the school year in September
