Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said limited travel to and from Gaza will resume on Monday, with Palestinians subject to Israeli security checks. Fleets of ambulances are waiting on the Egyptian side of the border to transport injured Palestinians for treatment in Egypt. Israel had refused to open the Rafah crossing as part of the October 10, 2025 ceasefire agreement until all hostage bodies held by Hamas militants were released. The final remains of a deceased hostage were repatriated to Israel six days ago. Critics say Israel’s closure of the crossing demonstrates Netanyahu's aim to retain control of Gaza.
