as posted by the channel

On Saturday, thousands gathered at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate to protest Iran's clerical regime. Many of the protesters expressed opposition to foreign intervention in Iran, while condemning Iran’s recent brutal crackdown on protesters. Organizers said many demonstrators were relatives of people killed or detained during protests in Iran. Yet the rally's organizers — the Mujahideen-e Khalq or MEK — have a controversial history. The MEK was formed as a leftist-Islamist group which was exiled to Iraq after the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Having fought alongside Saddam Hussein in the Iran-Iraq War, the group is considered to be a terrorist organization by the Islamic regime.

The US Department of State designated the MEK a terrorist organization in 1997, but removed it from its list of foreign terrorist organizations in 2012.

Many at today’s protest held up photos of Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the MEK. Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was beamed in to address the rally, along with other high-profile politicians.
