Prosecutors say the suspect deceived young Kenyans with promises of well‑paid work in Russia, only for them to end up on the front lines in Ukraine. He's charged with trafficking 25 people. Kenyan intelligence reports suggest more than 1,000 Kenyans have joined the Russian army in recent months, many with no military experience. DW to some of the men that have been recruited about why they decided to go to Russia and their experience there. Kenya is not the only African country where Russia has been recruiting fighters for its war. South Africa says two of its nationals died fighting for Russia in Ukraine.
