Israel says it would target the new leader as well as other figures of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Meanwhile, Israeli forces have struck fuel depots and oil infrastructure around Tehran for the first time in the nine-day war, sending thick smoke over the capital. Iran has condemned the attacks as a “war crime” and says it may delay revealing the new leader’s identity for security reasons—raising questions about how a leader can govern while remaining hidden. We discuss with Shahin Modarres, an International Security Analyst with the 'Monitoring Jihadism Project', and with DW’s Middle East expert Shani Rozanes.
