Tonebox - System Error

During the Vietnam war, General Van Fleet (then retired) praised the increase of the use of air power in warfare as "concentrated shock". Throughout the war, the US air force would fly 5.25 million sorties over Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, for loss of 2,251 aircraft, while the amount of lives they saved through timely close air support and through S&R and CASEVAC cannot be calculated, the proliferation of mass aerial bombardment as a means to prevent infantry meeting other infantry led to much more destruction and unfortunately, more civilian casualties.
