as posted by the channelIDAHO FALLS — A man has been arrested in the death of Deraek Larson, police announced Thursday.
Idaho Falls police said Brian J. Mitchell, 18, of Shelley was arrested Thursday morning on a charge of second-degree murder.
In a news conference, police said there was an eyewitness to the crime.
Larson was found dead on playground equipment in Tautphaus Park on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 16. The man who found the body said Larson had multiple stab wounds in the upper back and neck and was covered in blood. Police said Thursday Larson had been stabbed more than 20 times. Autopsy results are pending.
Larson was raised in Salmon and recently moved to Idaho Falls.
