1:54Now PlayingIDAHO FALLS -- The Frosty Gator has been grilling up tasty bites and serving savory pub style eats for many years in downtown Idaho Falls.
“Their burger’s pretty hard to beat,” customer Mike Silver says.
The restaurant stays true to their name and offers an alligator appetizer. Because of demand, gator was off the menu for a while, but now it's back.
“It’s a permanent on our menu. We have all kinds of exotics from time to time,” Owner Jake Schaefer says.
To make the perfect alligator dish, red onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms are sautéed in butter - then the meat is added to the mix. White wine and lemon are tossed in for flavor.
Customers say it tastes similar to chicken with a juicier texture.
The gator tail isn’t the only dish that makes this place special. The Frosty Gator offers a wide variety.
“We offer a little bit of everything you know, and that’s hard to do and at the same time we believe it’s the smart thing to do,” Schaefer says, “It’s not just a country bar, it’s not just rock n’ roll, it’s everything."
And there are dishes people can’t get enough of.
“Definitely our wings. Alligator is getting very popular, and the Jack Daniels sandwiches are really popular,” Manager Michelle Yorgensen.
Overall the customers who come enjoy the atmosphere and the experience.
“They have really great service. They're really quick,” customer Jessica Roberts said.
