1:32Now PlayingIDAHO FALLS - A 63-year-old woman was parking lot on Yellowstone Highway and police don't expect foul play was involved.
Idaho Falls Police Chief Mark McBride says Haven surveillance video shows the woman walking around the parking lot and falling around 6:00 a.m. Monday.
"Right now we're trying to determine cause of death," McBride says. "There was nobody else around and she was wandering around in the cold. We don't know why she was out there but we don't suspect anything suspicious."
Police dispatch received a phone call around 8:00 a.m. from someone who saw the body. Multiple officers responded to the scene.
McBride says the woman had been living in the Yellowstone Motel located next door to the Haven. An acquaintance, who does not want to be named, tells EastIdahoNews.com the woman was an alcoholic and had several health issues.
"She often locked herself outside of her room and asked for help getting back in," the acquaintance said. "She had demons and we were worried about her."
Detectives say they're working to notify the woman's family and, while they don't believe her death was a homicide, nothing has been ruled out.
"There's a lot of blood on the ground and we feel it's just from her fall but why she fell is what we have to determine," McBride says.
