1:39Now PlayingAMMON -- Every year BMG and Idaho Falls Rentals funds Coats for Kids, a philanthropic program that gives winter coats to needy children in Idaho Falls School District 91 and Bonneville Joint School District 93.
“If they're having to walk to school and it’s zero degrees ... they’re freezing,” Idaho Falls Rentals Branch Manager Jared Duncan said, “Just knowing that they’re going to be warm, that makes a huge impact in a child’s life.”
Since they started nearly five years ago they’ve donated upward of 1,000 coats, and this winter they’re already off to a good start.
"This year already we’ve been able to provide (coats) to at least 60 kids out in the community that didn't have access to ... a warm coat (before),” Duncan said.
Duncan said they provide sizes to fit preschool- and elementary school-aged children. They also can provide coats to younger children in families if a school communicates to Idaho Falls Rentals that there is a need.
"Our goal is to make sure that any need that comes through the elementary school is taken care of,” Duncan said.
The coats are purchased locally and once they receive an order they make an effort to buy and deliver quality coats the same day.
